BCACC Advisory Alert – Email Phishing Scam

Dear Members,

Please be aware that RCCs are receiving suspicious emails from someone calling himself “Joseph”.  The sender seeks counselling for relationship issues for a “19 year old daughter” named “Karen” who is coming to your location.  He would like to arrange payment in advance.

We believe the goal of this email is to access your financial information.

1. If you receive an email from this person, please do not answer him. We believe this sender is not a legitimate client.

2. If you have corresponded with this person, please cease communications.

3. If you have provided this person with financial information or accepted money from him, please contact your financial institution and take the necessary precautions to protect yourself.

4. We ask all members who have received this email to report this phishing scam to his email provider. The individual is using a Yahoo email address and instructions on how to report him can be found HERE.
