Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC)
Applications for membership with the BCACC are now reviewed on a rolling intake by the Office of the Registrar. However, complex applications may need to be reviewed by the BCACC Registration Committee that meets four times a year. If your application is complex you will need to meet an application deadline and your application could take up to eight weeks to be approved.
Your application might be complex if:
- You have completed your degree outside of Canada or the United States
- Your broad base counselling coursework is ambiguous
- Other reasons as decided by the BCACC Registrar
To have your application reviewed at a committee meeting, application and materials must all be received in office by one of these dates:
- December 1
- February 15
- May 1
- September 1
Before You Apply
Complete the application form and attach your resume. You will need your course names and numbers to complete the application.

You can apply using our online application (must be filled out in one session) or you can download a .pdf version.
Once you have completed your application form, please follow these steps:
Order transcripts for all course work listed on your application. Transcripts must be sent directly to us from the institutions. We will accept certified electronic transcripts sent from the university. We will not accept sealed transcripts from the applicant.
Review and provide reference forms to supervisors and/or colleagues. Reference forms must then be sent directly to us from the Referees. If you have two Clinical References, you do not need a Colleague Reference.
Order letters of good standing from any regulatory bodies with which you hold membership. It is the applicant’s responsibility to ensure that all documents required in the application process are received by BCACC Head Office by the application deadline. The office collects data only and will not call to let an applicant know that documentation is missing.
Applicants concerned about whether references and transcripts have been received should contact BCACC for an update on the contents of the file.

What happens next?
Once your application is complete we will send an email to let you know it is being reviewed.
Once your application has been reviewed, we will send an email informing you if you have been accepted for membership.
My application has been accepted for membership. What now?
The email you receive informing you of your acceptance contains important links to paperwork needed to complete your membership.
This email will contain:
- New member forms
- Insurance forms
- A request for a criminal record check. If you require a criminal record check, it can be completed through MyBackCheck. Click HERE to start the criminal record process through MyBackCheck.
Once you have submitted these forms to BCACC Head Office it can take up to two weeks to process.
