Throughout my 25 years of work in the human services field I have been driven by my passion to help others to heal and grow. As a Certified EMDR therapist it is rewarding to support adults, youth and families to overcome distressful or traumatic life events. I aim to provide you a non-judgmental and compassionate environment where you may feel comfortable to explore difficult issues. My aim is to support you in gaining personal insight and awareness as to what is preventing you from coping with your current situation. As you learn more about yourself and develop coping skills you will feel more confident in handing the challenges you face. I will support you to realize your true potential so you feel empowered to embrace your strengths and resilient qualities.
By using evidence-based treatment therapy, I will work collaboratively with you with an approach that supports your unique needs. EMDR therapy, Cognitive Behaviour therapy and Mindfulness practice prove very effective. My training in trauma therapy and DBT also informs my practice. My extensive professional experience in working with individuals who faced various traumas enables me to support you with care and empathy. It is an honour to help individuals to heal from – PTSD, high anxiety, depression, grief and loss, self-harming behaviors or suicidal thoughts. I may help you to learn how to navigate relationship issues or specific traumatic events.
My experiences that come with being a wife of an RCMP member and raising a family has increased my empathy, compassion, and understanding of how people may be impacted by relationships and life events.
First Responders – My personal and professional experience enables me to understand the unique needs of First Responders, their spouses/partners, and family. First Responders are the front-line defense – ensuring safety in our communities. Operational Stress Injury (OSI) is common due to the serious events members encounter that involve human life. Trauma therapy courses, continued EMDR training, and Occupational Awareness training with BCPFFA strengthen my capacity to help You to heal. I support Police, Fire Fighters, Paramedics, Corrections Officers, Coast Guard, and Health Care workers. I personally and professionally truly understand how members and family may feel helpless by the challenges caused by OSI. EMDR therapy helps and I will be honoured to provide you a safe and empathic space to heal. RCMP members will receive direct coverage by health services. My services are covered under Blue Cross and other extended health benefits.
Indigenous, First Nations, Metis – Since 1995 I have been fortunate to receive teachings from elders and community members from Cree, Sto:lo and Metis communities. These teachings help me to learn and understand the significant impact that individuals and families endure due to residential school abuse and trauma and inter-generational trauma. I am honoured to continue serving First Nations and Metis peoples in my office, on reserve, and at community events.
