Charlaine Robinson

Throughout my 20+ years of experience in the human services profession I have been driven by my passion for helping others to heal and grow. As a Clinician, and Certified EMDRIA therapist it is rewarding to support adults, youth and families to overcome distressful, overwhelming, or traumatic life events. I will support you in your journey of exploring those issues in a safe and non-judgmental environment. It is important that you realize your true potential and feel empowered to discover and utilize your strengths and resilient qualities.

I will guide you with care and compassion using evidence-based treatment. I will work collaboratively with you to identify which approach supports your unique need – EMDR therapy, Cognitive Behavior therapy and Mindfulness practice, Emotion Focused approach, DBT, or Trauma informed therapy. My extensive experience informs my therapeutic skills for helping you to heal from issues that may include – PTSD, high anxiety, depression, grief and loss, self-harming urges or suicide ideation. I may support you with relationship issues or specific traumatic events like car accidents.

Being married for 33 years to a spouse in law enforcement and raising three children, now young adults, has increased my empathy, compassion, and understanding for individuals experiencing distress.

First Responders, Partners and Families – My personal and professional experience enables me to understand the unique needs of First Responders, their spouses/partners, and families. First Responders are the front-line defense to ensure the safety of the community for which I take very seriously. Trauma therapy, EMDR training, and continued professional development and experience, strengthens my therapeutic service to Police, Fire Fighters, Paramedics, and Corrections Officers who may suffer from Operational Stress Injury. I completed Occupational Awareness Training and am endorsed by the BC Professional Fire Fighters Association.

Partners of First Responders and Law Enforcement members also experience unique stress for which I may provide individual therapy. With Dr. Alan Smitton and administrative assistant Ronnie Sidhu, I will facilitate a Group for Partners of Law Enforcement members in Sept 2019. Please contact me, or Ronnie for additional information at plegroup@hotmail.com or charlaine@charlainerobinson.com

Indigenous, First Nations, Metis – Since 1995 I continue to receive teachings from elders and community members from Cree, Sto:lo and Metis peoples as I serve them in various professional capacities. The cultural teachings include learning about issues caused by inter-generational trauma and residential school trauma. I am honoured to continue serving First Nations and Metis people in my office, on reserve, and at community events.

A respectful therapeutic relationship is important for healing and drives my mission to support you through life-enhancing, holistic therapy in an environment that honors your privacy and integrity. I offer a 30 min free consult so you may confirm if we are a good fit. I look forward to hearing from you.
