For some people, the dark times seem like they have been going on for too long now and it’s time to get some relief and move in a new direction with the help of capable psychotherapy. For others, a bit of counselling support is all that is needed to reorientate and navigate toward their intended path.
Whether you struggle with depression, anxiety, loss, shame, fear, anger, confusion or frustration, I will work with you in a way that makes use of your strengths and preserves your dignity.
A major focus of my counselling involves helping to undo the impact of distressing past events and trauma. This may be a single event, a significant injury or loss, or earlier life experiences that still impact you today like neglect, and physical, emotional and sexual harm. My approach emphasizes what is meaningful to you and your world and your values. I use a collaborative, integrative approach, significantly influenced by AEDP. I also integrate tools like EMDR when appropriate.
Along with formal training and credientials (I hold a Masters in Counselling Psychology from Trinity Western University), I bring my life’s experience working in the mental health field for the last 15 years.
I understand that sometimes by the time you make the call for help, things are often pretty bad. Most times, you will able to get an appointment within 1 week of calling/emailing, if desired.
