The Role of Biofeedback in Psychotherapy for Psychological, Psychosomatic, and Medical Issues
Facilitated by Janette Sperber, M.S., RCC
Find out how Biofeedback may be used for common client issues such as anxiety and panic attacks, depression, insomnia, chronic pain, GI distress, and other medical complaints. Expect a lively discussion and multiple real demonstrations!
What you will learn:
- Definition of Biofeedback and a one-minute history of the field.
- What forms of Biofeedback are currently being used.
- Typical presenting issues appropriate for Biofeedback.
- Why a counsellor would use Biofeedback in addition to traditional psychological techniques.
Several demonstrations will provide examples of how Biofeedback could be used in specific situations.
Janette encourages any registrant with a complaint related to muscle pain or headache to volunteer as a demonstration participant. If interested, please contact Janette ahead of time by email at firstname.lastname@example.org and she will go over what the demonstration involves and what to expect.
If you have a client with a pain complaint, psychosomatic issue, or any kind of autonomic dysregulation, feel free to bring that up for discussion of how biofeedback could contribute to improved outcomes.
