Employee Assistance Programs, or EAPs, are a confidential, short term, counselling service for employees with personal problems that affect their work performance. Many RCCs provide counselling to clients with EAP benefits. Some counsellors feel frustrated by EAP companies and the short-term nature of the work. Other counsellors have figured out how to make EAPs work for them to the benefit of their practice and their clients.
This training will offer insight into how you can successfully include EAP work in your practice.
EAP counselling provides a valuable service to clients, as well as a welcome income stream for private practitioners. Many counsellors would like to do EAP work, but they do not know how to get started.

Roma Palmer, MA RCC has over 20 years of experience in the social services field. For over 12 years Roma has run a successful private counselling practice working with both EAP and non-EAP clients. She is the past president of the Western Canada Branch of the Employee Assistance Professionals Association. Roma is a former director on the Boards of two addiction recovery treatment centres in the Vancouver area.
