Welcoming New BCACC Executive Director Michael Radano

The BCACC Board of Directors is pleased to announce the appointment of Michael Radano as Executive Director. Michael will begin with BCACC the first week of July 2021 and brings with him a wealth of experience.

Of relevance to the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors (BCACC), Michael Radano was the Chief Executive Officer of the Society of Translators and Interpreters of British Columbia (STIBC).  STIBC is similar to BCACC in that it is both a regulatory body and a member services entity.  During his tenure at STIBC Michael grew the membership base, secured new designations, forged new strategic partnerships to increase its revenues and deliver new services to members, and increased the influence of the organization both provincially and nationally.

Michael was also a Business Transformation and Technology executive at the Certified General Accountants of Canada (CGA-C) where he supported the merger of the three accounting bodies to form the new CPA Canada.  CGA-C was also a regulatory body as well as a member services entity.  At CGA-C Michael delivered new member services including Professional Development webcasts, a national self-assessment website for newcomers to Canada, one of the accounting profession’s first App for finding accounting firms across Canada, and a learning management system for 25,000+ students globally.

Michael has over 30 years of international experience in engineering, product marketing & sales, business development, IT management, consulting, and executive management in both the for-profit and the not-for-profit sectors. His passion is to lead, motivate and support board of directors, peers, and staff in achieving challenging strategic goals. Michael is a mentor and judge for new start-ups through the annual New Ventures British Columbia competition and the SFU CASEIT international competition.

Most recently, Michael was the Director of Employment, Language and Social Enterprise at MOSAIC.  During his four years at MOSAIC, Michael grew its revenues by 50% to $32M, helped the Board hire a new CEO, grew a social enterprise 10-fold to $1M, developed and implemented a succession and professional development plan for his team all while personally mentoring key members of the organization.

Michael was the President of AMSSA (The Affiliation of Multicultural Societies and Settlement Agencies). He has also served on the board of the BC Chapter of the Canadian Society of Association Executives.

In addition to his academic background in Engineering, Michael has a degree in business (MBA) from Simon Fraser University and is a Certified Association Executive.

“COVID-19 is having a negative impact on Canadians’ mental health, with many seeing their stress levels double since the onset of the pandemic. People are struggling with fear and uncertainty about their health, employment, finances, and social isolation.  We are especially proud of the work being done by our members in supporting Canadians during this difficult period”,  Michael says.

We hope you will join us in welcoming Michael to the BCACC team!
